The most important Catholic pilgrimage in the country that gathers thousands of faithful on the first Sunday of May.
The Boffa pilgrimage is an opportunity for thousands of Catholic faithful to follow in the footsteps of the first Catholic missionaries. Boffa is indeed the cradle of Christianity in Guinea and the place where the first church, the parish of Saint Joseph, was founded in 1877. Several stages mark this pilgrimage: the church of Saint Joseph of Boffa, the Marian grotto, the cemetery of the missionaries. Finally, the pilgrims (up to 20,000) meet on the first Sunday of May for a great celebration in the Marian shrine.
