Visit Forécariah, a region of large agricultural plantations.
Forécariah and its surroundings are historically a region of large agricultural plantations. Even before independence, the colonists had created large estates of which some traces still remain, notably through old houses. Forécariah was then part of the banana triangle extending from Benty to Mamou via Kindia. Nowadays, the land has been taken over by new farmers with varying degrees of success, focusing more on pineapple and cashew cultivation, sectors defined as priorities by the authorities.
