THE KONKOURE CENTER
Center offering disabled young people two-year training courses in mechanics, sewing or layette.
The center was created in 2006 by the NGO Guinée Solidarité Provence, an association that works in the field of socio-professional reintegration of people with disabilities. It offers two-year training courses in mechanics, sewing and layette to young disabled people aged between 15 and 35. In addition to training in a profession that can be practiced locally, these young people become aware, through their training, of their abilities and their value. Their professional empowerment also helps change the way their families and Guinean society view disability. Since 2021, a few places have been opened for people in vulnerable situations, such as young people who are victims of domestic violence or women who have been forced into marriage. The center also coordinates alumni groups and serves as a relay for the sale of their products, which is done on site. Installed in its new premises at the exit of Mamou towards Dalaba, it is open to visits from Monday to Friday from October to June, the opportunity for visitors to touch the reality of young people with disabilities and to discover the work done within the center. Why not buy one of the items offered on site (women's outfits and men's shirts made of wax, layette, wool blankets, objects made with recycled "water bags"...) and/or give your support? The best thing to do is to call before you come by at 664 30 38 76 or 622 34 77 93.
