COOPÉRATIVE DES CORDONNIERS DE DALABA OU COCODAL

The Cooperative was created in 1932. Here the know-how is passed on from generation to generation. Since 2015, a new workshop has been built a few meters from the old one. It is indicated by a sign on the side of the road. Inside, the shoemakers each have their own space arranged around the room. Installed on simple benches, they work the leather with basic tools. You can observe them at work, while viewing the finished products on display next to them. The preparation of the hides and the dyeing process are done in the backyard of the workshop. All the objects made are displayed on tables in the center of the workshop, but also on the walls. The artisans of Cocodal have a reputation that goes beyond the borders of Dalaba. They mainly make sandals and slippers for men and women, using different dyes to color the skins (green, red, yellow, blue...). We find very classic and old models, but also more modern models made by the most creative. They also make handbags or backpacks, wallets, belts, key rings, decorated bottles (combining colored leather and raffia in a very meticulous work) and sets of coasters... You have to spend some time on the spot to discover everything. As for the prices, they depend a lot on the ability and/or the desire of each one to negotiate.
