MARKET GARDENS AND LAKE OF DOUNKIMAGNA
Go there and contact
The gardens are accessible on foot or by car from Sebhory but also from the track towards Ditinn. Thanks to the dam lake of the same name and the canals downstream, they are watered all year round. They are well known in the area and beyond, especially because of the strawberries that are grown there. Every week, fresh produce from these gardens is shipped by truck to Conakry, to meet the orders of some discerning consumers. Unfortunately, to this day the transport is still done in non-refrigerated trucks, resulting in a significant loss of goods but also an early harvest not always optimal for the quality of products.
At the end of the stay, a small visit at the end of the afternoon allows you to discover in the best way this calm and relaxing place, to appreciate the mosaic of textures and colors and to stock up on tomatoes, carrots, cabbages, peas, beans (depending on the season)... The assurance of buying fresh products!
The nearby dam lake, , also offers swimming enthusiasts the opportunity to spend some time relaxing and lazing around. A few pine trees growing on the banks of the lake provide some shade, which is very pleasant in January and February when the dry season is in full swing. Be careful: from March onwards, the water level being very low, swimming is less pleasant because the muddy banks are largely uncovered.
