MOUNTAIN MACI
Culminating at 1,264 m, Mount Maci is a remarkable plateau overlooking the surrounding villages. It is easily visible and recognizable from miles around, especially on a clear day. It is possible to climb to the top by passing through a maze of rocks: it is a bit tricky in some places but it is not very long (count about 45 minutes to reach the plateau). Once "the feet on the table", the view is incredible! As far as the eye can see when the weather is good! The surroundings of the mountain are occupied by huge columnar rocks. Some of them seem to be suspended between heaven and earth! The fertile imaginations will certainly see there multiple and strange characters. Mount Maci can be the goal of a one-day drive from Dalaba. On the track leading to the mountain, the Mittywol waterfall is an ideal place to make a refreshing stop and why not take a dip. The natural swimming pool at the foot of the waterfall is "open" from November until March (in the rainy season, too much water and coolness and from April no more water for swimming). Mount Maci is also a stage of a 5 or 6 days trek, starting from Dalaba-center, joining Doucky or even Aïnguel (further north) and passing by the bridge of God, the Ditinn waterfall, the Kambadaga waterfalls. If you spend a few days in Fouta and if you have good shoes, this trek is for you! Do not hesitate to contact the local guides to open the way for you.
