KINKON FALL
This waterfall, about 80 m high, is located in the heart of an impressive rocky gorge. Upstream, the ochre-colored rocks form terraces and steps which, in the dry season, give access to pleasant natural baths. Downstream, 80 m lower, the narrow defile opens a perspective on the valley of Kokoulo. In the rainy season, the breath of the waterfall projects immense clouds of droplets that obstruct the view towards the bottom of the canyon. A small lookout, located further down the trail, allows you to better appreciate the show. By continuing the way, you will find the power station built by the Chinese. It supplies electricity to the towns of the region. To access the site, 1 km after leaving Pita towards Labé, take the track on the left, marked Timbi Madina and Kinkon. At the next junction, a few kilometers away, take the left-hand track, marked Kinkon and Kambadaga. A roadblock controlled by uniformed men is located about 8 km from the road. A mandatory stop! Unfortunately, at this location, visitors are often victims of "crazy" requests to access the site. The best thing to do is to obtain a pass before coming, which is issued at the central police station in Pita for a small fee, and if possible, to call on local tourist guides (from Dalaba or Labé) who can help you get through. From the dam, the path on the right leads to the real dam, while the one on the left leads down to the waterfall, after having crossed the village.
