KAMBADAGA FALLS
These are the widest waterfalls (about 100 meters in winter) and undoubtedly the most beautiful in Fouta. They are located 15 km downstream from Kinkon, on the Kokoulo River, and are in fact made up of three successive waterfalls, of which the first two are the most impressive, especially in winter, from the left bank viewpoint. The access to the top of the first waterfall is easy on foot or by car (you have to see if your vehicle will be able to go up, the slope being rather steep). Ideal for a picnic break at the water's edge but also for a swim a little upstream from the waterfall. You will find a bridge of "lianas" (in fact, metal cables) that spans the river. It's an opportunity to test your balancing skills.
The access to the bottom of the first waterfall is delicate but possible. A small sandy beach awaits the brave ones for an improbable sunbath. A cave located on the left of the waterfall also allows to land near the waterfall. In winter, the bathing is not possible but the shower is ensured by the breath caused by the force of the incredibly powerful current.
For the good walkers, the third waterfall is also accessible, after a walk of 1h30 to 2h in the middle of a dense vegetation and steep rocky walls. Very wild! A beautiful natural swimming pool has been formed at its foot with rocks as many diving boards. There are 2 possible accesses to the top of the first waterfall.
The first one, which allows access to the left bank, leaves from the road at Brouwal Tapé. The track is generally good until the river. At the last village before the falls (Hakoundé Mitty), children will certainly follow you to offer their services. They are sometimes a bit insistent, even aggressive. The best thing to do is to discuss with them so that they accompany you to the viewpoint, but also to the bottom of the first waterfall and to leave them a tip. You can also ask to see Bachir, a hunter of the village who can "manage" the children for you.
The second access is by the Pita-Télimélé road (right bank), following the map published by the Tata Hotel in Labé. In the last village crossed, that of Saran Pamé, it is necessary to leave the car on the arranged carpark and to walk about twenty minutes to join the point of view and the arranged space (with abandonment) right above the first cascade. The encounters with the monkeys are very frequent, because they like the still wooded and wild banks of Kokoulo.
