SMALL MUSEUM OF FOUTA
Inaugurated on June 9, 2001, this enclosure is a real plunge into the universe of the Fulani of Fouta-Djalon. Local everyday objects but also weapons, books, etc. in three rooms full of history. An excellent initiative that is enriched by the eloquence of Mrs. Koumanthio Zeinab Diallo, director of the museum and first poetess of Guinea. The visit itself lasts about 30 minutes but Mrs. Diallo, if she is available, will be happy to give you a little more time to answer your questions and help you discover the Fulani culture. This space is an essential place of Labé and its cultural life. The museum regularly hosts themed evenings: storytelling, theater, traditional and/or modern dance shows. In partnership with the schools of Labé and the Franco-Guinean Cultural Center of Conakry, it also organizes traveling exhibitions, reading clubs for schoolchildren around themes of trees and nature protection. The museum team also offers visits to historical sites in Labé such as the mausoleum of Karamako Alpha (founder of the city of Labé), the Mangalabé stone, the Sarah stone fields... Finally, the last good reason to visit this place is the Ka Wouro space ("At the farm") for gourmets which will allow them to taste a traditional Fulani meal or local products such as honey from Fouta
Do not hesitate to call the museum before your visit to organize your visit!
