BRIDGE OF LIANAS AND BANKS OF THE LOFFA
It is necessary to leave N'Zérékoré in the direction of Macenta, and to enter the village of Koulé at 42 km. The road is paved but gradually deteriorates. In Koulé, we leave this road to go in the direction of the liana bridge. To get there, you have to contact the village chief and negotiate with him to be accompanied by a local guide. Not always easy in a zone where tourism remains embryonic and little organized. The walk to the bridge (difficult at the height of the rainy season) lasts a little over an hour. It is embellished with river crossings, shady forests, rice fields, etc., to finally reach the liana bridge, which spans the Loffa River. Crossing the bridge when the current of the river is strong can be quite destabilizing: people prone to vertigo should abstain!
To reach the banks of the river, you have to leave Koulé and continue the road for a few kilometers. It first crosses the Diani river before going along it for a few meters. It is then possible to go down below the road to find yourself on the bank. There, dugout canoes are parked in the middle of mounds of sand. The fishermen have a double activity here: they catch fish with nets stretched across the current and spotted by some plastic bottles that serve as floats, but they also "fish" the sand, which they fetch in the bed of the river before bringing it back to the shore. An ideal place for a little break.
