VILLAGE ARTISANAL

Just opposite the Samaritana restaurant, this craft village is one of the only places where you can buy souvenirs in Guinea-Bissau. So take the opportunity to have a look! It's home to a handful of artisans, who are doing their best to survive the shortage of tourists, but aren't too insistent. You'll find wood carvings, jewelry and other objects, made either on site or in the country, they say. The market is fairly quiet, so it's pleasant to stroll around and choose your gifts in peace and quiet.
