Shavkat Boltaev produces some superb images, which are displayed in the back of this small caravanserai. 90% of his work concerns Bukhara, but there are also many photographs from Surkhandarya, or other regions of Uzbekistan, as well as occasional work by other photographers. The themes explored range from portraits of Bukhara's Jews and Aksakals to gypsy populations, as well as scenes from the monumental settings of the Silk Road's stopover towns. But it's the magnificent portraits that really catch the eye.
