Avoid the Chinese "made in China" souvenir stores that abound in Samarkand and come instead to hunt in this delightful grouping of traditional houses where Elena Ladik, a designer and jack-of-all-trades working with textiles, including silk, wrought iron, ceramics among a delightful bric-a-brac of antiques, officiates. Each garment or accessory is reinterpreted in its own way to become a unique piece combining tradition, character and originality. Fashion lovers and professionals from all over the world come to find their happiness.

What a wonderful place! Exquisite hand made clothing of the highest quality. Don’t expect the cheap tourist prices this stuff could rival the best designer shops in the world! Even if you can’t afford to buy, go in and talk to the lovely lady who owns it. It is art.

I went to that art gallery (13/05/2023). There was a painter and his family. The painter is called "Alisher" and his painting, traditional ouzbek, is really beautiful!

His art is mainly watercolor painting. He was very nice and very enthusiastic to talk about way of painting ! His son was helping him, translating in English/ Uzbek and also learning how to paint, as well.

Our encounter was very pleasant and I ended up being lucky enough to acquire one of his piece of work ! I love my painting! :-)

Do visit that place and, if you meet Alisher and his family, enjoy his beautiful traditional watercolor art! :D
