It's impossible to miss the spire of the World War II memorial, erected in 1987. A series of exterior plaques and imposing interior stained-glass windows commemorate the victims of fascism, and a flame burns beneath the 120-tonne, 134-metre metal spire. Uzbekistan boasts the third-largest war memorial in the world, after Russia (in Volgograd) and Canada. Small museum featuring photographs of all veterans.
