NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ART OF AZERBAIJAN
Set in two neighbouring buildings (from the 1920 th century), the Art Museum, founded in, is dedicated not only to Azerbaijani artists but also Russian, Western and Eastern. The Azerbaijani side covers the longest period, since it begins in the Millennium life before our age, presenting some pieces from archaeological excavations. Then you go to the ceramics of the Middle Ages, then to bronze and copper objects from the th till the th century, before coming to the miniatures that peaked at Tabriz in the th century. Carpets are, of course, at the honor of this museum, since they have long been one of the only supporters of Azerbaijani artistic expression.
