MAUSOLEUM OF DERI BABA
Go there and contact
This is the region's main attraction. The "living grandfather" had issued, before dying, the desire to be buried on the river. In accordance with this desire, its mausoleum, from the beginning of the th century, is located on the hillside, overlooking the river and offering its summit a beautiful view over the surroundings. And contrary to the fears of the inhabitants, who thought that the building would be quickly swept by the rivers, the mausoleum is in perfect condition, almost six centuries after its construction. On the iron door of the entrance are lined with multiple coloured knots, representing the wishes that pilgrims wish to see. On the first floor, a prayer room welcomes pilgrims, especially during Muslim religious holidays. Take time to detail the finesse of the decorations of the iraqis that survived erosion. You will also notice, looking at the three windows, the particularity of this mausoleum: each window displays the ground for one of the great religions: the Catholic cross, the star of David and that of Islam. From the top of the mausoleum, an exterior trail allows access to the top of the hill overlooking the surrounding area.
