A half hour drive from Shamakhi (12 km a bit winding), along the nature reserve of the same name. The observatory was built in 1935 mainly for Russian astronomers, when it housed one of the largest telescopes of the Soviet Union (2 m in diameter).
A small museum, unfortunately not doubled in English, reviews the main discoveries of local astronomers, especially with a gigantic map of Mars, which was mapped for the first time since the Pirguli observatory.
