Just before reaching the entrance of Qobustan National Park, at the bottom of the mountain, you will see a large stone surrounded by an iron barrier. This stone bears a Latin inscription, dating from the th century, proof that the Roman armies had reached this very oriental position. History tells us that the Roman troops have actually arrived three times in the region, but that they have never managed to build it properly or to strengthen their positions.
