SALT MINES
Halfway between Nakhchivan and Garagabla, these salt mines were converted into sanatorium after the Second World War. However, you can make a stop for a simple visit. At the end of a long gallery of 500 m in cul-de-sac, one accesses the sanatorium, composed of long dormitories above which some light bulbs are suspended. It is possible to try the one night experience for 50 AZN. If you just visit, take a look at the salt sculptures made by one of the patients a few decades ago: many of the relief animals are represented on the left after the climb leading to the bottom of the gallery. Closer to the entrance, a small tchaïkhana offers tea.
