SANT ESTEVE CHURCH
Romanesque church at the entrance to the old quarters of Andorra la Vella, with frescoes on display at the Catalonia Art Museum
The church of Sant Esteve, located at the entrance to the old quarter, is the parish church of Andorra la Vella. Of Romanesque origin (12th century), it was transformed and enlarged several times and has lost much of its original appearance, which only remains in the semicircular Romanesque apse, the largest in the Principality. The façade, which is now a composite, is decorated with a statue of Cardinal Benlloch, who was co-Prince of Andorra. The frescoes that once decorated the apse are now in the Museum of Art of Catalonia.
