Castle dedicated to controlling the passageways to the upper part of the country, with ruins and an church
A path leads to this complex, 150 m above the village. The ruins consist of the castle of Sant Vicenç d'Enclar and its 8th-century church (the oldest in Andorra). The position of the castle, on a promontory, once allowed it to control the passages to the upper part of the country. It is thought that it was built before the Arabs took over. The castle has no fortifications because the Count of Foix was obliged to destroy them in the 13th century as a result of the agreements (the Paréages) made with the Bishop of Urgell.
