CHURCH SANT ROMÀ DE VILA
Small Romanesque church in the residential hamlet of Vila, featuring a reproduction of its polychrome altar table
If you go up a path at the bottom of the Santa Marc and Santa Maria cemetery and after a 10-minute walk on the old path to Escaldes, you will find this small church in the residential hamlet of Vila, on the hills above Encamp. From here, the view over the valley is breathtaking. Of Romanesque origin, the building has undergone numerous restorations in the 19th and 20th centuries, which can be seen on the facings of the nave. The church contains a reproduction of its polychrome altar table, the original of which is in the National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona.
