SANT JOAN DE CASELLES CHURCH
Church in Canillo, with Lombard-style bell tower, 3-storey nave and Gothic altarpiece dedicated to St. John
Dating from the 11th-12th centuries, this church is the pride of the principality: its bell tower, in the Lombard style and of square structure, attached to the nave, rises three storeys. Inside, there is a stucco statue of Christ the King dating from the 12th century, restored in 1963 and surrounded by frescoes representing the sun and the moon. The gothic altarpiece dedicated to Saint John dates back to the Renaissance (a priori 1527). Not far away, there are ancient Romanesque tombs.
