HOTEL AU VIOLON
Historic hotel in an exceptional setting on the Heuberg in Basel.
This is a pretty address that uses the card of humour with a name that plays on its history and the linguistic and cultural specificities of the city. From the square in the heart of the pedestrian zone, Barfüsserplatz, you can see an old fortress on the Heuberg heights turning your back on the Historical Museum. It is an old prison that was transformed into a hotel at the end of the last century. It is accessed through a magnificent inner courtyard, the Leonhof, which majestically overlooks the old town. It is only on the first floor that you will find the long corridor of the rooms arranged in the old cells. The decoration is simple, the rooms are relatively spacious and bright, but the layout of the windows can be surprising, often located very high. If you have always preferred to play policeman, you will have a more spacious room with TV, located in the former police stations. A good address, in a fanciful "idyllic-carceral" setting that above all has a superb location in relation to the city.
