OBSERVATOIRE ASTRONOMIQUE JURASSIEN
This observatory is located in the countryside, in the small town of Vicques, some 40 km southwest of the city of Basel. It enjoys a good site with a quality sky, helped also by a correct altitude of 505 m, already allowing to raise the observations above the first thickest atmospheric layers. Several infrastructures are available, including a building housing a planetarium on the ground floor, a conference room, and on the first floor the Bernard Comte telescope, 610 mm in diameter, remotely controlled by computer, on which is fixed an instrument for artificially recreating the eclipses of the Sun, called a coronograph. Other domes and shelters are also located on the site, equipped with telescopes of about 300 mm, which can also accommodate mobile instruments that members of the association install on an ad hoc basis according to needs and public observation evenings.
