Spheres is located on the banks of the River Limmat in the industrial district of Zurich West. It is a café, bar, fast food restaurant, bookshop and even a theatre A stop for a snack or an aperitif is always a good idea. At any time of the day, the atmosphere is relaxed and dynamic. You can sit down to read books or newspapers available to customers, sip one of the delicious fresh fruit juice cocktails, participate in cultural events or meet new people.

Seit 15 Jahren komme ich jeden Mittwoch meine zwei kleine schalen geniessen. Teuer ja, aber die Lockige Dame an der Kasse, die immer lächelt, gleicht das aus.

I have been going to this cafe for the last 10 years or so. When being on holidays i would go there for the day and read, on a Saturday I would grab a coffee and work/read. And i loved it, its was like this slightly niche place at the river. Not entirely sure what went wrong there as of recently. The other day I was told to vacate my seat, because "they wanted to serve more lunch menues". Today I was told to vacate my seat because "somebody spontaneously reserved it". This has not ever happend to me anywhere else - or even twice in the same week. I mean I understand that running a cafe is about extracting the largest possible amount of money per time per table. But still, I guess Spheres has become a bit less niche, and significantly more commercial.
N.B.: If anybody has a good recommendation for a bit more friendly place - i am all ears (:

Das Sphères ist mein Lieblings-Café, mehr bräuchte ich eigentlich nicht zu sagen...!
Doch kurz zusammengefasst ist der Kaffee immer super gut, die Auswahl perfekt, das Personal sehr nett, kommunikativ und gut drauf. Und was ebenfalls enorm wichtig ist, das Sphères hat eine unverkennbare superschöne Atmosphäre, das Licht abends ist genial, wie auch die Inneneinrichtung, der Shop mit ausgewählten Büchern, der charmante Aussenbereich hinten bei der Limmat mit vielen Pflanzen oder vorne an der Strasse, alles sehr cool - besser geht's nicht.
