STEIN MUSEUM (APPENZELLER VOLKSKUNDE MUSEUM)
Museum of Folk Art. With numerous objects and tools, paintings and reconstructions, the exhibition of this 1 000 m ² museum leads you in the past of the region.
The omniprésence of the cows in the decoration reflects the importance of the dairy economy, and you can see the reconstitution of an old cheese factory. Embroidery and weaving are also of honour: it occupied the long winter evenings and allowed, through the sale, to maintain contact with the outside. You will also discover costumes, jewellery, or spectacular th-century painted wardrobes of the th century. Part of the museum is devoted to appenzellois painters. The lively and airy design, the living side of the various demonstrations, makes the visit of this museum a pleasant and instructive moment.
