TAVERNE DE LA MADELEINE
A unique, historical and poetic address! A non-alcoholic tavern with an original history where you can enjoy Swiss food.
Did you know that until the end of the 19th century, it was easier to drink wine than water? Water was often polluted and considered more dangerous than wine, which was seen as a tonic. It was impossible to go to a restaurant or a café without drinking alcohol, and no restriction was recommended. At the initiative of the Swiss Women's League against Alcoholism, the Taverne de la Madeleine, in 1920, was the first establishment not to serve alcohol, which was always absent from the menu. You will enjoy Swiss specialties.
