SAINT-MAURICE CASTLE
This castle nestled at the foot of the cliffs, at the northern entrance to Saint-Maurice, is placed like a lock at the entrance to the Rhone Valley. The original 15th century building was completely rebuilt in the 18th century after a fire. The construction is surprisingly modest in size. It was however the seat of the government, the customs post, the orphanage, the old people's home, the military school, the troops' quarters and even the prison. It is now an exhibition space mainly dedicated to the art of drawing, including press drawings and comic strips.
