The Anin Embroidery Centre was established by Heidi von Hase and Stephan in 1987 to support the rural development of communities in the Kalahari region. Anin employs about ten women in its factory next to Mariental and more than 300 women working independently from their villages. In the Nama language, anin means "many birds": indeed they are very numerous to appear on the proposed embroideries. The designs are executed with great care on excellent quality cotton and each work is signed by its director.
