The farm, in German colonial style, offers a beautiful view of the river bed below. If you don't want to leave Namibia without having seen leopards, Düsternbrook is the perfect place. In addition to horseback riding, the owner, Johann, offers a leopard drive where you can observe and photograph them up close from an open vehicle, especially in the middle of a meal. The farm has 32 beds from basic standard to luxury: camping, safari tents, African cabins, hard cabins, villa... There is something for all tastes and budgets.

I stayed here for a few days at the start of a trip around Namibia and Botswana. It was very nice. I chose this place because it offers horse riding and the horse I rode was very well trained. The horses look well cared for.
There are a lot of birds and wildlife on the property, and there are hiking trails. I did a game drive and we saw giraffe, kudu, oryx, springbok, and impala. The drive also stopped at the dam where there are hippos and a lot of different water birds. The food served at dinner was very good and the staff were very helpful and polite.

Die älteste Guestfarm liegt 40 Minuten Fahrzeit von Windhoek entfernt. Sie liegt landschaftlich wunderschön, doch muss man die Anfahrt über Gravel und kleinere Durchquerungen von Wasserstellen mögen. Das Frühstück und Abendessen nimmt man gemeinsam mit anderen Gästen ein und man kann sich nett unterhalten. Als Neuankömmling hätte ich mir eine Servicekraft gewünscht, die einem etwas behilflich ist, einen Platz zu finden. Eine Praktikantin erschien mir in diesem Fall unpassend und nicht sehr zugewandt. Die Angebote in Form von Gamedrives, Reitstunden, etc. finde ich preislich sehr gehoben. Ebenso das Frühstück und Abendessen.

Wir haben unsere Namibia Rundreise in Düsternbrook gestartet und waren total begeistert.
Die Farm liegt ca. 40 Km nördlich von Windhoek, wunderschön mitten in der Natur und besteht aus mehreren Gebäuden. Wir haben in einem Bungalow gewohnt, der einfach aber zweckmäßig ausgestattet war. Insgesamt merkt man, dass die Anlage im Familienbesitz ist und mit viel liebe zum Detail gestaltet wurde.
Die Pirschfahrten und Ausritte waren echte Highlights!
Abends wurde ein 3-Gänge Menü serviert, das sehr gut geschmeckt hat. Hier wurde auf die Zöliakie unserer Tochter Rücksicht genommen.

Fantastische Destination. Auch der Campingbereich war traumhaft gelegen. Besonders beeindruckend war der Durchlauferhitzer zum Duschen. Hier musste man erst Hand anlegen. Einfach super.
