Opinions Okapuka Safari Lodge Windhoek

Wir kamen am Ende unsrer 3 Wöchigen Rundreise hier an. Zuvor waren wir in der Frans Indongo und in der Mokuti Lodge. Wir waren sehr gespannt auf die Lodge, da es unsere erste Gondwana Lodge war. Tja. Leider war gerade ein Wolkenbruch niedergegangen, was zur Folge hatte, daß es im zuerst zugewiesenen Zimmer 5 durchregnete. Besonders das große Bett war betroffen. Wir meldeten das Problem beim Empfang. Dort hieß es, daß sei schade, aber es gäbe kein anderes freies Zimmer. Man würde das Housekeeping schicken. Es kamen zwei Damen mit Laken, die sich das Problem ansahen. Erst wollten sie das große Bett in die Mitte des Raumes zu verschieben, aber das hätte dazu geführt, daß andere Stellen des Bettes vom Durchtropfen betroffen gewesen wären. Inakzeptabel. Nochmal zur Rezeption. Dort hieß es dann, daß das Housekeeping nichts ausrichten könne, aber wir hätten Glück, gerade hätten Gäste abgesagt. Wir bekamen Zimmer 1. Das war trocken. Beide Zimmer sehr groß, aber auch sehr dunkel. Schlechte Beleuchtung durch Fenster und Lichtquellen. Die Abstellmöglichkeit für das Gepäck war stockdunkel. Das Bad von Zimmer 1 eher klein. Ungünstig aufgeteilt. Abgelatschte Teppiche, die sich an den Ecken aufrollen. Abendessen war ok. Auf angekündigte Allergien und Vegetarier wurde eingegangen. Allerdings nervte irgendwann die Loungemusik doch ziemlich. So etwas kann man überall auf der Welt hören. Das Frühstück war dann leider gar nichts. Unaufmerksame und gelangweilt wirkendes Servicepersonal. Das Frühstücksbuffet war unübersichtlich. Brot,Gebäck und Butter stehen entfernt vom restlichen Buffet, allerdings ohne das dort Teller gestanden hätten. Die standen zwar am anderen Buffetbereich, da war aber leider um 8.15 Uhr schon nicht mehr auf allen Platten etwas zu finden. Bestellter Kaffee wurde von der recht weit entfernten Theke geliefert, allerdings ohne Milch. Als die dann endlich kam war der Kaffee kalt. An den beiden Nachbartischen wurden Bestellungen für Eier aufgenommen, wir wurden übersehen. Auf Nachfrage wurde dann doch noch eine Bestellung aufgenommen. Nach 20 Minuten war die jedoch immer noch nicht geliefert. Also wieder nachgefragt, und die Aussage, oh, sorry, habe ich leider vergessen. Nach dann recht kurzer Zeit doch noch geliefert bekommen. Insgesamt wirkte der Service unambitioniert und lustlos. 3 Servicekräfte stehen an der Theke, einer bedient. Das ist noch viel Luft nach oben, verglichen mit den zuvor genannten Lodges.

Nice rooms and beautiful location. Amazingly kind and friendly staff. Restaurant service is good but definitely on the slow side. For the safari - kind and attentive team, a huge variety of animals. Definitely recommend the sunset trip, with snacks and sundowners. Definitely recommend a stay

During our visit to Okapuka Lodge on 10.03.2024, my 3.5-year-old son unfortunately suffered burns on his face and eye from hot candle wax that was standing in the woman's restroom, prompted by a power outage with no backup electricity or generator. As my child cried in pain, I sought help and approached the manager, but her response was indifferent, simply asking, "And what?" When I urgently requested ice, ointment, and other first aid, she dismissed my plea, attributing it to my tone. In such an emergency, I anticipated a more supportive and helpful response, especially considering my child's distress. Regrettably, the manager displayed no concern for the severity of the situation, offering neither an apology nor empathy. Such management behavior in emergencies is disheartening and deserves attention. This lack of responsiveness was disappointing, overshadowing what should have been the priority—ensuring the well-being of guests in distress. Unfortunately, our day ended in the hospital.

Eine wunderschöne Lodge. Leider hat es in der Nacht durch das Dach ins Bett geregnet, weshalb es die Abzüge gibt. So etwas darf nicht passieren.

Beautiful atmosphere with a great guide - JP. Extremely knowledgeable, fun and a good driver

Went for Sunday Lunch buffet with the family. It was a short drive outside Windhoek and the road although gravel was easily accessible for almost any vehicle. The setting of the restaurant is under one big thatched roof with pack away doors overlooking a large lawn and the Savana Bush veld. Peaceful and serene come to mind as you sit at your table overlooking the lawn watching animals such as warthog and ostrich. Staff are extremely friendly and super helpful. They delight in your enjoyment and are all keen to strike up a conversation. The food for the buffet was really good with ample choice of grilled meats and side dishes. Dessert was also really good.
The service was really good and the drinks cold. I would recommend this place for a special occasion. Gondwana has gotten their recipe down to a T and you won’t be leaving disappointed. A bit pricey yes but in my opinion it is the entire offering that one gets. On this Sunday we were soiled with live music as well which I must say really added to the atmosphere and lended a relaxed vibe to an already great venue

Tolle Lodge, sauberes und schönes Zimmer sowie leckeres Essen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Auch die Safari hat richtig Spaß gemacht.

Such a beautiful place…I was here 2022(wasn’t Gondwana yet)! Now is beautiful ???? first I want to say thanks for chef Linda make such a nice food for us!second is our waiter Robber,always make sure customers is happy.Last is our game driver & guide Simon,he is very professional with lots of interesting knowledge ???? Good job everyone,i will come back again! For all the beautiful and friendly staff????baie dankie everyone who work at Okapuka/Gondwana!????????

terrible dinner. all main dishes are spicy. ruin the fun of wine. and our children remained hungry. Eating dishes from the children's menu is impossible even for an adult. spicy. the evening is ruined ((( You wait 1.5 hours for breakfast and they bring you something that is not what you ordered!!!

Mal wieder eine sehr schöne Lodge von Gondwana. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Das Zimmer wunderschön. Wir haben sehr gut zu Abend gegessen. Das Frühstück war sehr gut, à la carte. Es gab außerdem frisches Obst, Müsli, Joghurts.... der game drive am Abend war wunderschön mit sehr vielen Tieren. Sehr zu empfehlen, auch wegen der Nähe zum Flughafen.

Food ????

We like the new looks. The rooms are good, the coffee station great, fan and AC and fridge much appreciated, all meals were very good, nice idea about a la carte menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, breakfast buffet with fresh fruit selection great, good coffee station, BUT most of all the extraordinary staff - all of them friendly and professional. Well done!

The stay at the lodge exceeded my expectations and gave me more rest to the end year fatigue which most professions suffers from at the end of the year. The rooms were comfortable and limiting technology is something I absolutely commend the Gondwana team for. Being surrounded by the mountains and birds sounds all day long reminded me of home. The food was amazing with staff members like Linda, Rejoice, Miriam and the rest I can’t remember their names were so welcoming and always full of energy willing to connect with the clients. The game drive was amazing, the tour guide Simon really knew his nature and I learned more than I ever knew about the birds, rhinos, zebras etc. I can safely say it’s one of the most memorable game drives I had thus far.

Awesome, nice and cozy, quiet, and peaceful.

Wir waren vor zwei Monaten für 2 Tage hier und fanden die Lodge recht hübsch. Die grosszügige, grüne Wiese mit den vielen Wildschweinen und Strassen hat uns gefallen. Auch die Lobby war recht gross und nett eingerichtet. Fahr- und Gehweg zur Lodge waren nicht sehr gepflegt. Die Idee ein Häuschen viertelweise an verschiedene Gäste zu vermieten war neu für uns, führte aber dazu, dass ständig Leute direkt durch unseren Vorplatz liefen.
Bei der Ankunft wurden wir nicht auf mögliche Aktivitäten hingewiesen und im Restaurant muss man schon fast etwas betteln um bedient zu werden.
Die Lage der Lodge ist etwa eine halbe Fahrstunde von Windhoeck. Ganz praktisch also für Ausflüge nach Windhoeck.
Summasummarum eine gute Lodge mit Luft nach oben im Bereich der Freundlichkeit und Sauberkeit der Wege in Parkplatzbereich.

Definitely check your bill precisely when checking out. Charged us double for a room and refuse to give us our money back. Absolutely unacceptable and unbelievably disappointing.

Okapuka is such a nice place and small safari with amazing animals. We got to see many giraffes, some rhinos, zebras, many birds etc. And all that thanks to our amazing guide Vonia! She answered all our questions and gave us a lot of information about animals and Namibia in general. Thank you again! You are amazing ???? more on IG @kisstynka

Okapuka Safari Lodge is amazingly beautiful with a very soothing classic antique interior and also a very eco - friendly terrace with a warm hospitality. A beautiful place to relax and makes us feel -at -home. We had a great experience during our stay there. The rooms are very classy with all the facilities to fulfil our needs. The food served there is very delicious. the animals we saw (Kudus, ostriches, springbokkies, and warthogs) from we got there. And also not forgetting to mention about the management & friendly staff, who are very pleasing. As a whole we had a very good time there and would surely like to visit there again. keep it up, I will be tagging #Okapuka Safari Lodge + #Gondwana lodges on my insta. :)
