Africa's largest maritime museum opened its doors on September 11, 2024. The Namibia Maritime Museum was inaugurated by President Nangolo Mbumba. The museum occupies the premises of the former power station, built in 1910-1911, and covers 2,500m2 on five floors. You can learn more about the country's maritime history, from the arrival of the navigator Bartholomeu Dias in 1488 to the present day. The Namibia Maritime Museum also showcases the country's marine biodiversity.
