SESRIEM CANYON
This canyon located at the entrance of the park offers a very interesting geological structure.
Created by the Tsauchab River and located at the entrance to the park, the canyon offers a most interesting geological structure: the rocky clusters testify to a formation dating back more than 15 million years. Sesriem means "six straps" in Afrikaans, a reference to the efforts of the Boers who named the place, who once had to tie six straps together at the handle of a bucket to draw water from the bottom of the canyon. It is possible to walk down into the canyon and back again (about 2 hours).
