PELICAN BAY HOTEL
Hotel offering spacious rooms with terrace and beautiful sea view, located on the lagoon, near the Yacht Club.
This grand hotel, owned by the Protea chain, is a must-see hotel on the lagoon, close to the Yacht Club, and is perfectly located for walking to nearby restaurants and booking with the tour operators on Atlantic Street. Rooms are spacious with en suite facilities, TV, minibar and terrace, some with beautiful sea views. It is best to enjoy the smell of the lagoon, however, it will not leave you out of your stay! All the comfort is there with a discreet but efficient service.

Opened in 2003, it feels like twice its age at least.
Our room was antiquated and tired. But the beds were clean and comfortable. The safe was not working, leaking batteries made it unusable. The card reader on the room door was not working either, we had to go to the reception for them to open the door every time we got out.
Taped electric wires in the cupboards are, I expect even for Namibian standards, surely not up too any safety code.
There was coffee, thee and cups, but no water heater. This was quickly fixed.
The doorframe of the bathroom rotting on its base wad a sight for sore eyes. So were the stains on the carpet and the greasy fingerprints on the window left from the previous occupants. The decks in front of the rooms to the seaside have not been cleaned for ages.
All these little things surely were avoidable if properly checked and maintained.
Hope for a quiet night? Bad luck. Thanks to the passage door to the adjacent room, you hear all the conversations and moves in the next room. And I expect they hear you too. No privacy whatsoever.
Very luckily the staff and service made the difference. They were as helpful as possible to relieve some our issues. BIG thanks to all of them.
