Avis has a presence at Walvis Bay airport if you need to rent a car for your travels. Again, there are no 4WDs available for hire, and like competitor Budget, Toyota Corollas and Volkswagens can be hired at a fairly affordable price, which is more than enough to get you around town and make the 30 minute connection between Walbis Bay and Swakopmund. The vehicles are equipped with manual gearboxes: not something Europeans would normally find confusing! Reservations should be made online and preferably in advance.
