Steam engine classified as a national monument, being the first to have been used in Namibia.
Classified as a national monument, this steam engine dating from 1896 is typical of the first machines to be used in the country. After many adventures to bring it from Germany through the desert, it was left abandoned until it was rebuilt and put on display at the entrance to the town. It owes its name to the remark made about it "I stand here because I cannot do otherwise", as Martin Luther also said.
