SWAKOPMUND MUSEUM
Private museum in Swakopmund with a very interesting exhibition on the different forms of life in the Namib Desert.
Founded by Allan Weber in 1951, this privately-owned museum features an interesting exhibition on the different forms of life in the Namib Desert (flora and fauna), Namibia's largest collection of bird eggs, and another of minerals. The museum's historical section evokes Swakopmund in pioneer times, while the ethnological section features a fine collection of musical instruments and traditional utensils from Namibia's peoples. The museum sometimes organizes excursions to the Rössing uranium mine.
