OMBALANTU BAOBAB TREE
Camp in a former South African military base for a stay in Ruacana.
This camp houses a baobab tree of impressive dimensions, which has the particularity of being hollow. Located on a former South African military base, it was used alternately as a post, chapel and hideout. The place is sacred in the Owambo culture, a calm and respectful behaviour is therefore required. The former army café (the Koffeehuis) has been converted into a souvenir shop. The camp itself is nothing extraordinary but has all the necessary equipment for your comfort, and there are few alternatives anyway.
