FRANKE TOWER
The Franke Tower, declared a national monument of Namibia in 1972, is a witness to the battles that took place in Omaruru.
The Franke Tower was built in 1907 to commemorate the victory of the Germans over the Herero people. It was declared a national monument of Namibia in 1972. It is located on the southern bank of the river of the same name as the town and its entrance is free for visitors. It is sometimes surprising that these remnants of a painful past to the glory of the Germans are still standing in Namibia, like the change of the German name of some streets. The work of memory is ongoing with its paradoxes.
