I treated my parents to a 10 day stay at the lodge to spend time with friends and recharge, and what an awesome experience we had! Had hippos grazing next to the main deck and just outside our bungalow! Woke up each morning to birdsong and hippo grunts. The rooms were comfortable, with all that we needed. The food is absolutely outstanding, never had the same dinner twice. Took boat rides up and down the Okavango river with the guides, and had sun-downers at the Popa falls. The guided game drive was a highlight, where we saw hundreds of birds, such as kites, which migrate from Russia. The lodge owners and staff made us feel at home, and we just couldn't get enough of the spectacular environment. I will definitely be visiting again. We had some very specific dietary requirements and allergies, and the catering staff took care of us at every meal.Thank you to Eugene (Jinx), Dawn, Cameron and their wonderful team for our unforgettable stay.
Everything was exceptional.
We woke up this morning to the sounds of hippopotamus honking and grunting, which sounded as though they were outside our caravans. They can apparently be heard up to 1.5km away. After bravely deciding to go down to the river to investigate, we saw a small herd of six hippopotamus in the water on the opposite side of the river. The bird life is absolutely incredible, sounding like we were in a forest deep in Africa somewhere. The location of the Nunda River Lodge on the banks of the Okavango River is breathtaking. Each caravan site has electricity, a braai and grid, water tap and light. The sites are private, under shade and grassed. The gardens are lush and beautifully maintained as is the sparkling swimming pool, which is a must in the heat of the day. We have booked a sundown river cruise up the river later today, so watch this space.
