SARYŌ ICHIMATSU
Traditional abode, soothing garden, fugu cuisine and elegant hospitality: Saryō Ichimatsu ticks all the right boxes.
From the outside, one could mistake this restaurant for a beautiful traditional house, but once in the garden, one is greeted by a lady in kimono who guides us with hushed steps towards a tatami room. Since 1959, it serves elaborate menus based on fugu and Japanese desserts. The place is frequented by the business community and geishas sometimes animate the evenings. Go there, if only for a zen break in front of the lemon tree or to taste a zenzai, the sweet red bean soup served with grilled sticky rice.
