Behind the noren, the entrance curtain, is a legendary tempura restaurant in Tokyo, which was the meeting place of Bernard Leach and members of the Mingei, the art movement that revived Japanese craftsmanship, in the post-war period. Here, the fried food is nothing like the cheap ones served in chains or street kiosks. The main branch in Ginza reopens in July 2022 after a 3-year renovation, a perfect opportunity to enjoy the delicious tendon and other dishes on the menu.
