In the Edo period (1603-1867), this store was called "Chin-ya" (the Pekingese store), as it sold pets, particularly Pekingese dogs, to feudal lords and wealthy merchants. When the store became a restaurant in 1880, the nickname stuck. Then, in 1903, the establishment specialized in shabu shabu and sukiyaki. These are a kind of Chinese fondue, adapted with local ingredients, cooked in a pot. With a history like this, it's the perfect place to enjoy the authentic recipe!
