This maze of alleyways is a reminder of the black market that flourished here after the Second World War. "Ame" is as much about Americans as it is about the candy that was sold here (among other less innocent things). Today, it remains a popular market where you'll find all kinds of stores selling clothes, gadgets and fresh produce. But it's the fish stalls that attract the most attention, and the little bars that set up makeshift terraces along the streets. In the evening, you can enjoy a beer or sake in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
