BOOKSTORE DISTRICT
In the "Latin Quarter" of Tokyo, more than 150 small bookstores sell old and new books and prints.
Around Jimbochō station, books take center stage. It's a bit like Tokyo's Latin Quarter, with some extraordinary bookshops. Some are real treasures. It is estimated that the 160 stores and other stalls have a total of over ten million books. There are, for example, books dating back to the 18th century, in French, costing the princely sum of ¥10,000. One wonders how they ended up here. Some stores sell magnificent prints, with prices ranging from ¥1,000 to ¥100,000 and more.
