Within the sanctuary, archers in traditional costumes mounted on horseback aim at a target during an ancestral ritual.
The annual celebrations of this sanctuary are spread over three days. On September 14, they open with a purification ceremony by the sea. Visitors flock to this festival, especially because of the procession on September 15 and the yabusame festival the next day, a ritual in which archers on horseback shoot at targets. It ends with the release of Japanese crickets in the shrine.
