A small haven in the heart of Tokyo, this 16-hectare western-style park was laid out in 1904. It was the residence of the daimyō during the Tokugawa era and was home to a military garrison after the Meiji restoration. Today, it beats to the rhythm of the many festivals and concerts held there on weekends. Some restaurants are built within its walls, as well as the district library. Small exhibitions are sometimes organized on the first floor and the café-restaurant is surprisingly bright and quiet.
