SHINJUKU GYŌEN
Everything is decked out in pink and everyone is celebrating spring with beers and bento boxes under a forest of cherry blossoms.
This very large park was once the property of the imperial family before becoming public in 1949. It is divided into several areas, with Japanese gardens, English and French gardens, and even a greenhouse where many tropical species grow. It's a popular place for families and groups of friends all year round. In spring, crowds flock here for the cherry blossom season, when more than a dozen different varieties can be admired. In autumn, it's a pleasure to stroll under the red maple alleys.
