It is the house of the painter Yokoyama Taikan, who died in (1868-1958). The name may not mean much to you, but he is one of the artists who marked his time with his work on the renewal of Nihonga painting, a Japanese painting technique that is very respectful of certain rules and traditional materials. The house is near Ueno Park. You can see a garden, as well as the traditional building. Emblematic works of the painter are exhibited inside. Nice to see but pretty limited hours.
